 
A beloved Southern dessert that’s warm, comforting, and irresistible with a scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
Peach Layer:

4 cups fresh peaches, sliced (about 5–6 medium peaches) 
- 
½ cup granulated sugar 
- 
1 tsp cinnamon 
Batter:
- 
1 cup all-purpose flour 
- 
1 cup granulated sugar 
- 
2 tsp baking powder 
- 
¼ tsp salt 
- 
¾ cup milk 
- 
½ cup unsalted butter, melted 
Topping:
- 
1 cup granulated sugar 
- 
1 tbsp cornstarch 
- 
1 cup boiling water 
- 
1 tsp vanilla extract 
Instructions
- 
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. 
- 
Prepare the peaches: Toss sliced peaches with ½ cup sugar and cinnamon. Spread evenly in the baking dish. 
- 
Make the batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until smooth. Pour over the peaches. 
- 
Prepare the topping: Mix 1 cup sugar with cornstarch and sprinkle over the batter. Carefully pour boiling water on top, then drizzle with vanilla. Do not stir.

Bake for 45–50 minutes, until golden and set. 
Serve: Warm, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
