Homemade Crispy Egg Rolls

Crunchy, golden, and bursting with a delicious mix of veggies and protein, these egg rolls are the perfect appetizer or snack for any gathering.

Ingredients

(Makes about 12 egg rolls)

Filling:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (or coleslaw mix)

  • 1 cup shredded carrots

  • ½ cup bean sprouts (optional)

  • ½ cup diced mushrooms

  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce as a substitute)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • ½ pound ground pork, chicken, or shrimp (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)

For Wrapping and Frying:

  • 12 egg roll wrappers (or spring roll wrappers)

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for sealing)

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
