Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3-5 minutes.
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in taco seasoning and water, and let simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes.
Place the piece of parchment paper on your work surface. Roll out the pizza dough on the parchment into a 10 x 15-inch rectangle.
Using a pizza cutter, make 1 1/2-inch wide cuts along both long sides of the dough, cutting 3 inches in from the edges.
Spread the cooked ground beef down the center of the dough. Top with 3/4 cup of shredded cheese and the diced tomato.
Starting at one end of the braid, fold the end up and wrap the first two dough slices over the filling to secure it. Continue wrapping the remaining slices, leaving the last two slices open.
Brush the top of the braid with melted butter.
Transfer the braid to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Garnish with chopped Romaine lettuce, additional diced tomato, sour cream, and taco sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
