Whoopi Goldberg Exits “The View” Amid Controversy Over Miranda Lambert’s Concert Incident
Whoopi Goldberg has made headlines after walking off the set of ABC’s The View during a heated discussion about a controversial moment involving country music star Miranda Lambert.
The incident in question involved a video that had been widely circulated, showing Lambert pausing her concert performance to admonish fans who were taking photographs during her song “Tin Man.”
The debate unfolded as Whoopi and her co-hosts—Sarah Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin—discussed Lambert’s decision to stop her show.
According to the video, Lambert expressed frustration with audience members who, despite being in the VIP section, were more focused on their phones than on enjoying the performance.
Whoopi Goldberg took a strong stance in favor of the fans. “These people paid a significant amount of money for their tickets and traveled to see her perform. They deserve a bit of respect from the artist in return,” Whoopi said.
Her argument was that since the fans had invested so much in the experience, they should be allowed to capture memories as they saw fit.
However, her co-hosts had differing opinions. Sunny Hostin, for example, defended the right of concertgoers to take selfies, particularly given the high cost of VIP tickets. “If I’m paying $757 for a VIP ticket, I’m going to take as many selfies as I want. That’s part of the experience,” Sunny argued.
The disagreement escalated, leading Whoopi to stand up and leave the set. As she exited, the studio audience reacted with amusement when she paused to take a photo with a 91-year-old woman in the crowd. “I wanted a picture with this amazing 91-year-old lady.
We’re going to snap a selfie together,” Whoopi remarked, highlighting her belief in celebrating the moment and the people around her.
