Ingredients:
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
4 cups hot water
6 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Nutmeg for garnish
Method:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Combine the sweetened condensed milk and hot water in a glass or metal bowl.
In another bowl, whisk the eggs until they become light in color and frothy. Gradually pour a small amount of the hot milk mixture into the eggs, stirring until smooth. Add the vanilla and salt, then mix thoroughly.
Pour the mixture into ramekins and place them on a high-sided baking sheet, or use a 2-quart baking dish as an alternative.
Place the tray in the oven and fill it with half an inch of water. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until a knife comes out clean. If using a larger baking dish, extend the baking time to 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Allow the custard to cool for an hour. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve either hot or chilled, with a preference for the latter.
Enjoy!
