Classic Vanilla Pound Cake

Few desserts evoke comfort and elegance quite like a vanilla pound cake. With its beautifully golden crust, velvety interior, and the soothing scent of vanilla, this classic treat is perfect for any occasion—from afternoon tea to family gatherings. Serve it as-is or dress it up with your favorite toppings—either way, it never disappoints.

✨ Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk, at room temperature

  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Optional Garnish:

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

👩‍🍳 Directions

1. Preheat the oven and prepare your pan:
Set your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9×5 inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Cream the butter and sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until the mixture is pale, light, and fluffy—about 3–4 minutes.

3. Add eggs and vanilla:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4. Mix dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Combine the batter:
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry mixture. Mix just until everything is incorporated—avoid overmixing to maintain a soft texture.
