Cornish Beef Pasties

 

Instructions:

Step 1

Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in chilled butter until crumbly.

Step 2

Mix 1 egg yolk with cold water, then blend into flour mixture. Chill dough for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Brown beef in a skillet. Add potatoes, carrots, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.

Step 4

Cook until vegetables are tender. Remove from heat.

Step 5

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll dough into 6 circles. Spoon filling onto one side of each circle.

Step 6

Fold dough over filling, seal edges, and crimp with a fork. Cut slits on top for ventilation.

Step 7

Place pasties on a lined baking tray.

Step 8

Brush with remaining egg yolk mixed with water. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.

Optional Freezing Instructions:

Bake pasties for 20 minutes, cool completely, then freeze. To reheat, thaw, brush with egg wash, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes or until heated through.
