Crock Pot Candy (“Mr. Bud Candy”)

This is my daughter’s go-to recipe for fundraisers, church events, or sharing on candy trays because it’s so good—and it makes a lot! An older gentleman at her church named Mr. Bud shared this recipe with her, and ever since, it’s been affectionately called Mr. Bud Candy.

Candy made in a crock pot? It doesn’t get much better! Rich, sweet, and surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar (16 oz.) dry roasted, unsalted peanuts

  • 1 jar (16 oz.) dry roasted, salted peanuts

  • 1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 4 oz. sweetened German chocolate (green packaging), broken into pieces

  • 3 pounds (two 24 oz. packages) white almond bark, broken into pieces

    • Note: Almond bark brands vary, and some have candy coating on the packaging. If ounces differ, use the equivalent of 3 lbs.

Directions

Step 1:
Place the ingredients in a 4–5 quart crockpot in the exact order listed. Cover and cook on the lowest setting for 3 hours. Do not remove the lid!

When done, the mixture will be soft, not fully melted. Turn off the crockpot and let it cool slightly. Mix thoroughly, then drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Let cool completely.

Makes approximately 150–170 pieces, depending on size.
