Garbage Bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat it with nonstick spray.

  2. Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is fully browned. Season with salt and pepper, then drain off any excess grease.

  3. Prepare the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the French bread dough into a large rectangle, about 12 × 18 inches.

  4. Add the Condiments
Spread the ketchup and mustard evenly over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges.

  5. Layer the Fillings
Evenly distribute the cooked beef over the dough. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and chopped pickles.

  6. Add the Cheese
Arrange the American cheese slices in a single, even layer over the fillings.

  7. Roll and Seal
Starting from a long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams and ends to seal, then place the loaf seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Brush and Bake
Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  9. Cool and Serve
Let the bread cool for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with Thousand Island dressing for dipping.
