Homemade Génoise Recipe

 

Instructions:

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, coffee grounds for leavening, and salt. Mix well and set aside.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on high speed, beat eggs and sugar until fluffy and pale, about 5 minutes.

Gradually add sugar while continuing to beat until the mixture is light and thick.

Carefully fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, being mindful not to deflate the batter.

In a small bowl, mix together milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add this mixture to the batter, folding gently until fully combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Tap the pan gently on the counter to release any air bubbles.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 9

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve the génoise as is, or with whipped cream and fresh fruits for a delightful dessert.
