ITALIAN STROMBOLI

ITALIAN STROMBOLI

This quick and straightforward Italian Stromboli is a tried-and-true crowd-pleaser that can be put together in a matter of minutes. It is both an appetizing appetizer and a satisfying main course since it is brimming with flavorful cured meats, is covered with cheese, and is encased in a crust that has been baked.

At the moment, we mark every Friday evening in our home as “family fun night,” which doesn’t mean a whole lot, but it does mean that we eat pizza and watch a movie. Simply said, it is something that we all look forward to doing together each week, and it also serves as a time for our family to get together.

When I don’t have a lot of energy and the idea of making my own pizza dough seems intimidating, I go for something that is incredibly straightforward, like stromboli. A Stromboli is a kind of pizza that is comparable to a calzone, but it is more analogous to a doughy turnover that is stuffed with cheese, pizza sauce, cured meats, or your preferred pizza toppings.

This pizza-like baked sandwich dinner is great for a family night out because even the kids can easily help make it.

THE INGREDIENTS LIST;
  • Refrigerated Pizza Dough: I used 1 tube.
  • 1/2 Cup.Of Pizza Sauce
  • 1 tsp.Of Italian Seasoning
  • Italian Salami; you’ll need 12 slices.
  • Sliced Pepperoni; I used 18 slices.
  • 1/4 Cup.Of Pesto Sauce.
  • 1½ Cups.Of Shredded Mozzarella.
  • A beaten Egg.
  • 1 tbsp.Of Fresh Parsley.
  • 1/4 tsp.Of Garlic Powder.
PREPARATION:
  • 1st Step – Turn the oven temperature up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit as you lay out the pizza dough on a piece of parchment paper. The pizza sauce should be spread over the dough, leaving approximately a half-inch border all the way around.

  • 2nd Step – On top of the pizza sauce, sprinkle some of the Italian seasonings, and then cover the pizza with pepperoni and Italian salami.

  • 3rd Step – After spreading the pesto on top of the layer of cured meats, cover it with about 1 1/4 cups of shredded mozzarella.

  • 4th Step – Roll the tortilla tightly from one side to the other, taking care to prevent the toppings from falling out. Put the finished product onto the parchment with the seam side facing down, and then transfer to a baking sheet.

  • 5th Step – Coat the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg and set it aside. With a sharp knife, simply cut small slices into the top of the stromboli.

  • 6th Step – On the top, sprinkle the leftover grated cheese, then dust with garlic powder and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.

  • 7th Step – Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the top has developed a golden brown color. For best results, wait 10 minutes before cutting.
