Kentucky Butter Cake with Salted Caramel Glaze

 

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour (13 1/2 ounces).

2 cups granulated sugar.

1 tsp salt.

1 tsp baking powder.

1/2 tsp baking soda.

1 cup buttermilk or fermented milk.

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature.

2 tsp vanilla extract.

4 large eggs.

Sauce:

3/4 cup granulated sugar.

1/3 cup unsalted butter.

3 tbsp. water.

2 tsp vanilla extract.

Instructions:

Step 1

To start, preheat oven to 325°F and grease/flour a 12-cup Bundt or 10-inch tube pan.

Step 2

Then, mix flour, 2 cups sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda. Add buttermilk, butter, vanilla, and eggs, and beat until moistened, then increase speed and beat for 3 minutes.

Step 3

After that, spoon batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Step 4

Next, while baking, make the sauce: melt sugar, butter, water, and vanilla in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until butter is melted (do not boil).

Step 5

Finally, once the cake is done, pierce it with a fork and pour the hot sauce over it while still in the pan.
