Mom’s Signature Cream Puffs

 

Ingredients:

1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter.

1 cup water.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

4 eggs.

1 cup all-purpose flour.

Mom’s Famous Filling:

1 pint heavy cream.

1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix.

1/3 cup milk.

Instructions:

Step 1

In a saucepan, bring the butter, water, and vanilla extract to a boil.

Step 2

Add the flour and stir constantly until the mixture leaves the side of the pot and forms a ball.

Step 3

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 4

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the mixture is smooth.

Step 5

Drop tablespoonfuls of the dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.

Step 6

Bake at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 7

Allow the shells to cool completely.

Step 8

Slice each shell in half horizontally and either pipe or scoop Mom’s filling onto the bottom halves.

Step 9

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
