Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake

Instructions:

Step 1

First, preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C), and generously grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt pan or a 10-inch tube pan.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, 2 cups sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda, then add the buttermilk, 1 cup butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and eggs.

Step 3

Beat on low speed until moistened, then increase the speed to medium and beat for about 3 more minutes.

Step 4

Spoon the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.

Step 5

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 6

While the cake is baking, prepare the sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the 3/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup butter, 3 tablespoons water, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Cook, stirring, until the butter is melted. Do not let the mixture come to a boil.

Step 7

When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and place it on a wire rack. While the cake is still in the pan, pierce it all over with a fork or skewer. Pour the hot butter sauce over the hot cake.

Step 8

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Serve slices of the cake warm or at room temperature.

Have a nice day!!
