Instructions:
Step 1
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion, shallots, and celery, and sauté until translucent.

Sprinkle in the flour and stir continuously for about 2 minutes.

Gradually whisk in the seafood broth, heavy cream, and white wine (if using).

Stir in the tomato paste, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and laurel leaf.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for approximately 20 minutes.

Add the shrimp to the pot and cook until they turn pink, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Then add the crab meat and cook for another 2 minutes, or until heated through.

Remove the laurel leaf. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, and stir in the fresh parsley.
Step 9
Serve hot in bowls, garnished with chopped fresh herbs or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
