Directions:
Step 1
Cook the cabbage in boiling water just until the outer leaves can be easily pulled away from the head.
Step 2
Set aside 12 large leaves for the rolls.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce, chopped onion, uncooked rice, parsley flakes, salt, dill, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
Step 4
Cut out the thick vein from the bottom of each cabbage leaf, creating a V-shaped cut.
Step 5
Place about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf.
Step 6
Overlap the cut ends of the leaf, fold in the sides, and roll up starting from the cut end.
Step 7
Slice the remaining cabbage and place it in the bottom of a Dutch oven.
Step 8
Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down over the sliced cabbage.
Step 9
In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, sugar, and the remaining tomato sauce.
Step 10
Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls.
Step 11
Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours or until the cabbage rolls are tender.
