Amish Baked Custard

Amish Baked Custard

Vanilla holds a special place in my culinary heart, and when it comes to choosing between vanilla and chocolate, vanilla always wins (though I hope that choice never actually presents itself). Another culinary delight I adore is Amish custard – simple, minimalistic, yet bursting with flavor. This Amish Vanilla Custard Recipe embodies all of those qualities!

This creamy four-ingredient custard requires just a can of sweetened condensed milk, water, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. That’s it! After a gentle bake for approximately one hour and forty minutes (though do keep an eye on it, as oven temperatures can vary), it’s adorned with a delicate dusting of ground nutmeg or cinnamon, or a blend of both. Whether you prefer to indulge in this velvety Amish custard at room temperature or chilled, it’s sure to tantalize your taste buds. Personally, I opt for a chilled serving, as custard should be enjoyed cold.

This timeless custard recipe has stood the test of time, delighting generations with its simplicity and flavor. Serve it for dessert and witness the joy in everyone’s eyes as they savor each spoonful and inevitably ask for more!
