Directions:

Step 1

Cook the cabbage in boiling water just until the outer leaves can be easily pulled away from the head.

Step 2

Set aside 12 large leaves for the rolls.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce, chopped onion, uncooked rice, parsley flakes, salt, dill, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

Step 4

Cut out the thick vein from the bottom of each cabbage leaf, creating a V-shaped cut.

Step 5

Place about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf.

Step 6

Overlap the cut ends of the leaf, fold in the sides, and roll up starting from the cut end.

Step 7

Slice the remaining cabbage and place it in the bottom of a Dutch oven.

Step 8

Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down over the sliced cabbage.

Step 9

In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, sugar, and the remaining tomato sauce.

Step 10

Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls.

Step 11

Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours or until the cabbage rolls are tender.
